The AvRDP Kick-off Meeting will be held from 24-25 June while the CBS Nowcasting Workshop will be held on 26 June 2015. Both events will be held at the Lecture Hall on the 6th floor of the new building (No.3 Building) of SMS, 280 Caoxin North Road. Wifi is available in the meeting room.
Visitors to China must have a passport valid for at least 6 months and confirmed round-trip tickets. Any participant from countries with no diplomatic relations or no special visa exemption arrangement with China should obtain an entry visa before entering the country. When uncertain as to entry visa requirements for China, please contact your local Chinese Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible. For more information, please visit the http://cs.mfa.gov.cn/wgrlh/. If you are required to have an entry visa for China, you have to fill in the attached Form, and you are kindly advised to apply for the visa as soon as possible at the nearest Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your country.
It is suggested that participants stay at the Jianguo Hotel Shanghai which is just 5 minutes walking distance to/from SMS. Participants could either make their own booking through the hotel website or request the local secretariat to make the room reservation for them. If assistance is needed, please send an e-mail to Ms Wuyun with your check-in/check-out details.
Internet access (both wired and wireless network) is available in the hotel and free of charge in the hotel room.
Airport pick-up can be arranged upon request. To avail of the pick-up participants must provide the local secretariat with their arrival information by 15 June 2015. After you exit the customs area look for the welcome board with the sign “AvRDP Kick-Off Meeting & CBS Workshop”.
In case of failure to be met at the airport, you may either take a taxi to the hotel or take the subway. It is however advisable to take a taxi especially if you are not familiar with Shanghai Subway System and if you have too much luggage. The taxi fare from Pudong Airport to the Shanghai Meteorological Service is around RMB 250.
Comprehensive Price: price = base fare RMB 14 (first three kilometers) + RMB 2.4 for every succeeding km within 10 km and RMB 3.6 for every succeeding km after 10 km. Night taxi service (from daily 23:00 to the next 05:00 ): price = base fare RMB 17 + RMB 3.1 for every succeeding km within 10 km and RMB 4.1 for every succeeding km after 10 km.

Credit cards (Visa, American Express, Diner’s Club, MasterCard and JCB) are accepted at hotels, department stores, and most shops and restaurants. If your credit card does not have a photo please be sure to carry with you a photo ID.

The electric current in China is 220V, 50/Hz, and the below plugs are usually used. If your appliances plug has a different shape, you may need a plug adapter.
